What if I take more Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets that I should?
Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets are not normally harmful if you take more than you should. However, if large amounts are taken you should talk to a doctor or go to a hospital straight away. This is particularly important if it is a child or baby or if you have severe liver or kidney problems.
Can I use Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets if I am pregnant or breast-feeding?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. This also includes if you are planning to get pregnant or think that you might be pregnant.
Directions
Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets must only be mixed with water before taking. It should be made just before the medicine is going to be taken and not made in advance. The following steps should be used to make the medicine:
- Empty the contents of one sachet into a glass
- Add 200ml (7 fl oz) of water
- Stir until the powder fully dissolves (this will be a colourless solution)
The number of sachets you should take depends on your condition, but the usual dose in adults is one or two sachets after each loose stool.

Side Effects
Like all medications, Dioralyte Blackcurrant Sachets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. In most cases you should not normally have any side effects. - Signs of an allergic reaction include: a rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.
- Your bowel is partially or fully blocked (called ‘intestinal obstruction’).
