Can I use CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment on my face?
Yes, CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment can be used on the face to help relieve dryness, rough patches and chapped skin. Its formula contains petrolatum, hyaluronic acid and three essential ceramides to help lock in moisture and support the skin barrier. Apply a thin layer to dry areas as needed, avoiding direct contact with the eyes.
Although the formula is non-comedogenic, meaning it is designed not to clog pores, you may prefer to avoid spot-prone areas if you find richer products aggravate your skin.
Is CeraVe Advanced Repair Balm the same as Vaseline?
CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment and Vaseline are similar because both use petrolatum to help protect the skin and prevent moisture loss. However, they are not exactly the same. CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment also contains hyaluronic acid, three essential ceramides and other moisturising ingredients to help hydrate the skin and support its natural barrier.
Vaseline Original Petroleum Jelly has a simpler petrolatum-based formula. Both can help with dry, chapped skin, but CeraVe offers additional skincare ingredients.

The active repairing ingredients in CeraVe Advanced Repair Ointment include petrolatum, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides (1, 3, 6-II), which help protect, hydrate, and restore the skin barrier.
The other ingredients include mineral oil, paraffin, microcrystalline wax, lanolin, cholesterol, panthenol, tocopherol (vitamin E), phytosphingosine, and purified water.

You should not use this product if any of the following apply to you:
- If you are allergic to ceramides, petrolatum, hyaluronic acid, or any of the other ingredients.
