Voltarol Osteoarthritis Joint Pain Relief 1.16% Gel can help relieve the pain, swelling and inflammation associated with mild osteoarthritis. It contains diclofenac, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by reducing substances in the body responsible for pain and inflammation.
Clinical evidence supports its use for osteoarthritis affecting superficial joints, such as the fingers and knees. However, results vary between individuals, and it does not cure osteoarthritis or reverse joint damage. Speak to a pharmacist or doctor if your symptoms persist or worsen.
Voltarol Osteoarthritis Joint Pain Relief 1.16% Gel may take up to seven days of regular use before you notice an improvement in arthritis pain, as the diclofenac needs time to build up its effect around the affected joint. Apply the gel according to the product leaflet, usually three to four times daily, allowing at least four hours between applications.
Do not exceed the recommended dose. If your symptoms do not improve within seven days, or they get worse, consult a doctor or pharmacist.
You should not use Voltarol Osteoarthritis Joint Pain Relief 1.16% Gel if you are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, ibuprofen or other NSAIDs, or if these medicines have previously triggered asthma or an allergic reaction. It must not be used during the last three months of pregnancy or by children under 14. Avoid applying the gel to broken, damaged or diseased skin, and keep it away from your eyes and mouth.
Ask a pharmacist or doctor for advice if you take other painkillers or have a history of stomach ulcers.
