Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) is used for the treatment of warts, verrucas, corns and calluses. This product is suitable for use by adults, children and the elderly.
The active ingredients, salicylic acid and lactic acid, work by softening the hard skin growth which makes it easier to remove with a pumice stone or emery board. They also help to kill the virus that causes warts and verrucas.

What should I be aware of before using Salactol Wart Paint (10ml)?
Do not use Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) if you are allergic to salicylic acid, lactic acid or any of the other ingredients used in this treatment.
This treatment should also not be used on any area near your face, armpits, breasts, bottom or genital area. Do not use this product if you are diabetic or suffer from poor blood circulation to your hands or feet.
Take care when using this product if:
- You are unsure whether you have a wart, verruca, corn or callus that is suitable for treatment. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist first.
- Apply Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) carefully, using the applicator provided and taking care not to apply the paint to healthy skin, especially on young children as this may cause irritation.
- Keep away from eyes, nose, mouth, broken skin, cuts and grazes.

How should Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) be stored?
Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) should be kept out of sight and reach of children. The bottle should be kept upright to avoid any spillage, and always replace the cap tightly after use. Keep away from flames or ignition sources as the product is highly flammable. Do not store above 25°c.
Do not use Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) after the expiry date, which is shown on the bottle, or later than 3 months after opening the bottle for the first time. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
How should I dispose of Salactol Wart Paint (10ml)?
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to properly dispose of medicines, as this will help to protect the environment.
Directions
Use this product only on warts, verrucas, corns and calluses for which it is recommended. Follow the below steps once every day, usually in the evening until the affected area disappears:
- Soak affected area in warm water for 2 – 3 minutes.
- Dry the area thoroughly, using your own towel if you have a wart or verruca as this will help stop the infection from spreading.
- Gently rub away any loose, hard skin from the surface of the affected area with an emery board or piece of pumice stone. Do not let anyone else use the pumice stone or emery board if you are treating a wart or verruca.
- Unscrew the cap of the bottle and use the applicator to carefully apply a few drops of Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) to the top of the affected area only.
- If the affected area is on the sole of the foot, cover it with an adhesive plaster to help prevent the spread of the virus.
- Replace the bottle cap after use.

Side Effects
As with all medicines, Salactol Wart Paint (10ml) can cause side effects although not everyone gets them. Some possible side effects include:
- Unacceptable discomfort or persistent irritation can occur at the treatment area (very rare).
- Feeling a slight tingling sensation and / or some mild tenderness at the treated area whilst the product is working.
- Irritation if applied to normal skin.

Ingredients
The active ingredients are salicylic acid (16.7% w/w) and lactic acid (16.7% w/w). The other ingredients are pyroxylin (contains isopropyl alcohol as a damping solvent), colophony, castor oil, industrial methylated spirit and ether.
Warnings
You should not use Salactol Wart Paint if you are allergic to salicylic acid, lactic acid or any of the other ingredients of Salactol.
Additionally:
- Do not use this product anywhere on or near your face, armpits, breasts, bottom or genital (sex) area.
- Do not use it on birthmarks, moles, warts with hairs growing from them, or any other spots.
- Do not use this product if you are diabetic or suffer from poor blood circulation to your hands or feet.
