Lyclear 5% Dermal Cream contains permethrin, an insecticide that kills head lice and their eggs (nits). It works by attacking the nervous system of the lice, causing them to become paralysed and die. The cream is applied to dry hair and scalp, left on for the recommended time, and then rinsed out. A second application is often needed after 7 days to kill any newly hatched lice.
